Back to the Future...again

When Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gayle created the movie “Back to the Future” I seriously doubt they had any notion that the movie would be the long lasting monster hit that it has been. In 1985 when it was first released I took my 9 year old daughter to see it on the big screen at a local theater. We thoroughly enjoyed the outrageous characters, the DeLorean DMC-12 “time traveling vehicle”, the imagery, the humor and of course Michael J Fox. We both laughed and giggled like 9 year old girls!
Certainly not anything compared to the original however, I have been having a somewhat ‘back to the future’ journey myself. In 1974 I had just graduated from VCU in Richmond, Virginia with a BFA in Sculpture. That summer I was headed to Fort Collins Colorado to apprentice with a well-known sculptor. Do you know that expression “Life is what happens while you’re making plans”?
The list of my past “adventures” is rather lengthy therefore I will just say I have had few regrets and look forward to my newest adventure - Violet-Rain.com. With the encouragement of my children I am in a way, back pursuing what I started to in the summer of ’74…fulfilling my need for ART. Through the years I continued to keep my hands busy and my sculpting/metalsmithing channeled itself into jewelry making. I have freelanced the traditional items such as rings, wedding rings, earrings, bracelets and some untraditional such as, specialty boxes with hinges and hidden compartments, walking cane handles, I am sure you get the picture. So since I have never envisioned myself retired I am back at it again and am anxious to see what comes off my work bench everyday.
Violet-Rain.com is a niche online business catering to clients who are seeking artisan designed and handcrafted jewelry that fits outside the mainstream. I will continue to make my own creations and I will also welcome commissions.
